Germany Trip

Business trip to Germany for machine buy-off in beginning of June. World Cup 2006 is just started when we (colleague and myself) are there but I guess we won't be able to watch any match due to the tight schedule. Only one 'free' day to go around...sigh... (even if we have time also I don't think so we can get any ticket :P).

Not so excited about the trip because lots of work to do. The worst part is we have to go for a factory visit at another vendor site on 9th June and it's 3 hrs drive from where we stay. The plan is vendor pick us up at 7am....3hrs drive to vendor's factory.....visiting.....demonstrating.....questioning.... eating ...... visiting.... eating....3hrs drive back at around 5pm. Definitely exhausted when we get back to the hotel.

There's no speed limit in Germany's highway and all cars is driving at 200~300km/hr speed. It will be a bit scary for us Malaysian cause our highway speed limit is merely 110km/hr.. pai seh!! But Germany's highway is so advance, no pothole and it is incline at certain degreee at the corner, it's definitely safe for high speed driving (but still a bit worry)

The thing worries me more is my wife is due soon (notice my new ticker!). Luckily I can get wife's brother to take care of her when I'm not around. I wanted to be there when my baby girl is born. So, baby please hang on until daddy coming back k!!

Singapore movie

Many people are watching the latest Singapore series 同心圆 that shows on Astro AEC recently. Suddenly I noticed there’s one similarity in the all time favorite Singapore films, which they are all related to the word ‘stupid, 笨’.

This is why I said so: For movie, the famous ‘粱婆婆’, ‘粱婆婆2’ and ‘小孩不笨’, first two movies come with the stupid character, second movie also with something to do with stupidity. Then we have former ‘荷兰村’, the main actress is 低智商. The famous comedy series ‘Phua Chu Kang’ too, he’s a bit crazy and stupid too. Then in this同心圆, the character 大洋 also is 弱智.

I seldom watch Singapore movies but I found this similarity out of the few that I’ve watched, Singaporean you got to be stupid in order to win…. 爱笨才会赢!!! Haha…

Sunday morning…

Sending my wife to work very early in the morning at 5:30am, before reach her office at the junction from the former Mint hotel towards Technology Park Malaysia, a few policemans were doing their 'duty' at that junction. I stopped there, and the officer asked …

Officer: Mana pergi?
Me: Kerja.
Officer: Mana kerja?
Me: TPM
Officer: Tunjuk lisen dan IC
Given all he requested, the officer can’t find anything to charge me then let us go. Luckily we obey strictly all rules; seat belt on, head lamp on, no illegal tinting, original exhaust pipe, valid road text and driver license. So it’s good to make it a habit to checked our driver license expiry date often, paying the fine for holding an expired driver license may cost you all the license fees. My advice, don’t leave any ‘hole’ for the police officer to bribe.

Proceed after the police inspection, reached wife’s office at a 6am. Drop her off, drove back KL to pay credit cards balance at Citibank, it is good to go Citibank at this hour because I have the chance to choose which deposit teller to use. Compare to go there in the midnight, no parking and you will have to queue up to half an hour just to make a payment, this already excluded those payments made through mail, online and cheque drop-in. That's is why Citibank can survive with just two branches in Malaysia because of its credit card popularity).

Drove home after making payment, bought a newspaper at 7-eleven and had my early breakfast (Teh Tarik and Roti Telur) at the Indian food stall. Not many people yet at 6:45am on Sunday morning. Browse through the paper and one new has catch my attention, tens of pigeon have died within a day in Bidor, Perak yesterday, this has cause the public fear, worried it might be the sign of another bird flu spread. And as usual, the respective government body action is always so slow. No sample was being send for testing yet! So lembap…

Back home after breakfast, did another morning routine job…… toilet :-P

Reading the newspaper while doing the ‘big’ job, suddenly 心血来潮 and start singing in the bathroom, to my surprise it sound good! The reason is because of the echo effect in my toilet. Ha! No wonder many people like to sing in the bathroom because of the Karaoke effect. Wondering if the echo effect idea is initiated from the bathroom….haha

Saturday …

Stay home whole day, lazy to go out. Make our own breakfast: sausage, shine-up egg, sweet corn and milk. At noon, prepared a simple lunch which is my wife favorite…. Or can say Teow Chew favorite…. porridge. Dump all ingredient (香菇, mix-vegetable, 干贝) into the porridge and add some soy sauce, fried some 江鱼仔, cut slices of seaweed into the cooked porridge and it’s done. Not bad for a light lunch.

Some of my own others cooking… fish in gravy sauce, steam fish, Japanese tofu, fried kai lan :P

Faulty Camara Repaired FOC

My dearest readers, if you still remember my posting of "Camera Faulty" in August '06. My 6th BIL has adviced me to complaint Fujifilm. I did that, luckily i'm from the manufacturing background. From my engineering experience, this problem is obviously manufacturing defects. I just told them if nothing can be done, I will make sure my friends and relatives don't buy Fujifilm camara again.

Then i got reply. 50% parts discount on parts:

>Our Sales division has referred your case to us.

Thank you for writing to us.

We are sorry to learn that your DSC is out of order.

We provide one year worldwide warranty for camera purchased. It is our standard policy to issue a quotation for over warranty case.

For manufacturing defect models, normally we shall recall those units via our official website announcement.

Taking into consideration that you seldom use your DSC, we would like to less 50% for parts. Which means RM280 less 50% = RM140 + RM 80 (Labour Charge) = RM 220

Please indicate to us if you accept this offer, we have to arrange the internal document. Keep this email as evidence when collect your camera.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and view about semiconductor realiabilty with us.

Best Regards<

I don't agree to pay even half price for a faulty part, then i got second offer 50% parts discount, extended 6 months warranty to 9 months.

>Thank you for replying.

We are glad to inform you that we agree to extend another 6 months warranty for the CCD replacement if you accept to replace at proposed less 50% price.

Which means, original 3 months + extension 6 months = 9 months.

Please indicate to us if you agree with this proposal. Keep this email as evidence when collecting your DSC.

Best Regards,<

Still I don't accept, i'm asking for more discount:

>Thank you for replying.

You are willing to pay RM70(Parts) + RM80(Labour Charge). Which means you are asking to less 75% for parts.

Our standard part replacement warranty is 3 months. We agree at 9 months. Which means 200% increase.

We are sorry to inform you that we cannot meet your request this time.

However we can refer your case to our Sales division for special consideration.

Can we propose RM100(Parts) + RM80 (Labour Charge) = RM180 with parts replacement warranty 6 months to our Sales division ?

Which means parts less 65% and part replacement warranty increase 100%.

As for your brother's camera, please provide us the Job no. We shall trace the record and get back to you later.

Best Regards,<

Finally....

>We are glad to inform you that our company has announced officially in our website that F410 CCD can be replaced under FOC even for over warranty case with effect from 03-10-05.

Which means you need to pay only RM30 for another broken part as per attachment. Please reply this email if you accept our quotation.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Thank you for supporting our products.

Regards,<

That's call customer right. And should praise Fujifilm to admit their manufacturing defects. Now i have my camera's CCD repaired FOC (RM30 for repairing front LED). Can start taking pictures to put in my blog already ;)

How the Chinese stay put in Italy

So funny, something to cheer everyone up...

About a century or two ago, the Pope decided that all the Chinese had to leave Italy. Naturally there was a big uproar from the Chinese community. So the Pope made a deal. He would have a religious debate with a member of the Chinese community. If the Chinese win, they could stay. If the Pope wins, the Chinese would leave.

The Chinese realized that they had no other choice. So they picked a middle-aged man named Ah Pek to represent them. Ah Pek asked for one condition to be added to the debate. "To make it more interesting", he said, "neither side would be allowed to talk". The Pope agreed.

The day of the great debate came. Ah Pek and the Pope sat opposite each other for a full minute.

Then the Pope raised his hand and showed three fingers.
Ah Pek looked back at him and raised one finger.

The Pope waved his fingers in a circle around his head.
Ah Pek pointed to the ground at where he sat.

The Pope pulled out a loaf and a glass of wine.
Ah Pek pull out an apple.

The Pope stood up and said: "I give up. This man is too good. The Chinese can stay."

An hour later, the cardinals were all around The Pope asking him what happened?.

The Pope said, "first I held up three fingers to represent the holy trinity.
He responded by holding up one finger to remind me that there was still one God common to both our religions."

"Then I waved my finger around me to show him that God was all around us."
He responded by pointing to the ground and showing that God was also right here with us."

"I pulled out the wine and loaf to show that God absolves all sin.
He showed me an apple to remind us of the original sin. He had an answer for everything.

What could I do?"

Meanwhile, the Chinese community had crowded around Ah Peh. "What happened?" they asked. "Well," said Ah Pek,

"First he indicated to me that all Chinese had 3 days to get out of here.
I replied to him f*@k off and not one of us was leaving."

Then he pointed that this whole city would be cleared of Chinese.
I showed him that we are staying right here."

"Yes, and then???" asked the crowd. "I don't know", said Ah Pek,

"He took out his lunch, and I took out mine!!!"

Road tax reduction

a.. Tidak menaikkan harga petrol, diesel dan gas memasak sehingga akhir tahun ini;

b.. Tidak menaikkan kadar tol bagi tahun ini dan tahun depan.

c.. Menambah kadar bantuan Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat kepada orang tua, daif, anak yatim, golongan miskin, keluarga yang hilang mata pencarian, uzur, cacat atau berpenyakit.

Road tax reduction, is it a good news or bad news? Anyhow, tax reduce us a small matter. The petrol price only freeze up to 2005 year end and Tol freeze up to end 2006. What the different if the autorise party freeze the increase at the said period and impose higher rise when they are open to revise the price??!!!

Whatever govenment do, the inflation will still happen in a near future......year 2006 after petrol price. As they said, this is just a temporary releave for public.

National Day outing

Happy National Day! Merdeka! Mau duit Kah! Bun De Ka (Hokkien)! Mi Luo Jia (Mandarin)! Happy 48 Birthday to Malaysia.

Plan to go KLCC park for a morning walk, then lunch in Suria KLCC before a movie at TGV KLCC. After that shop around and lastly re-visit the KL Convention Center and take some photos. Unfortunately plan changed .....

Plan to wake up at 9am but ended up 10:30am, so cancel morning walk...
Reserved a movie ticket for 'Red Eye' at 1:05pm, ticket must be collect 45min before the show but reached Suria at 12:10pm. Reach phone booking counter at 12:20pm, waited for the queue for another 10min. Given the reservation number, checked from the system and the ticket counter attendant said the reserved seats already been taken because it's over the collection time. ... still don't want to admit late and argue with her that I reach on-time but the long queue is causing me late. Fortunately there's still plenty of good seats available, taken two tickets and went for a rush lunch at Genki Sushi before the show...

The movie.......below is review comment taken from the Cinema Online
For a movie with a very simple premise and even simpler (in fact rather underdeveloped one at that) storyline, this movie ended up as a tense psychological thriller complete with the claustrophobic-ness of a plane flight. Goes to show why director Wes Craven is hailed a master in this genre.

If you are an action movie fan. This is the movie you must watch. Charming and beautiful actress, intense pace, In fact, romance, humour, and it reminds me of the movie 'Speed'.

After movie, thinking of shop around but later changed my minds because really too crowded.

So we went to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. Taken some photos outside the building, went to the underground where's the Aquaria located. Gosh, the queue is at least 100m long from the aquarium entrance and it will takes at least 2 hours to reach the entrance...... just wonder why are those peoples still willing to waste the time to queue up, after all the aquarium visit may takes only half an hour.

From Left: underground walkway from Surua KLCC to Mandarin Oriental Hotal and Convention Center. View from Kinokuniya.

Long queue to the car park (2 hours point) and some food stalls in the outside the Aquaria.

From Left: Side entrance. View from Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Hotel at the far side.

Left to right: EXXON MOBIL at the end. Center entrance to Hall and Aquaria. Refelction of Petronas Twin Tower. Still in progress office tower.

Kuala Lumpur Convention Center

It’s been quite some times did not go round the Kuala Lumpur city. Last Sunday, after meeting my colleagues at UOA building, on the way back to the car park I passed by the newly completed Kuala Lumpur Convention Center which is located just beside Suria KLCC, Petronas Twin Tower and Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

It's about 12pm and the lousy car park that I parked earlier already fully park!! Good money cause it's cost Rm5/car and there at least few hundred cars....jaga by 2 Indian guys. Don't want to talk about them more.....

So walked to the KL Convention Center, the main lobby seems quite. Asking the reception if any exhibition on show now but not on that day. The 'Treasure of Nan Hai' will be started on Monday, it's an exhibition about all the treasure from the China famous wreck ship sunked in Nan Hai.

The big indoor aquarium 'Aquaria' is located a floor down the main entrance. Went down and surprisingly it's so crowded there. Adults, kids, aged people, all kind of peoples fill up the whole floor, queueing up to enter the Aquaria. The line is at least 50m long!

There's an flyer written 'Merdeka Special' - Adult RM20, Kid -RM10. Later i found out the normal price is about RM28 or 38....hehe not sure. Unfortunately I don't bring camera along....next week, next week I will come back for camera shooting. The building is great!!

Air Management + Aromatherapy industry

Last Sunday, I was invited by my colleague to meet his business partner for a business opportunity talk at UOA, KL…..u know lah, another MLM company lor. Our appointment is at 10am and I reached there at about 9:50am. I parked at the open car park opposite UOA building, beside the newly open KL Convention Center main entrance. Still plenty of parking space in the open car park, thought it was Free on Sunday because I don’t see anybody jaga the car park when I entered it. Choose a beautiful parking spot, turn off the engine, put on the steering lock and suddenly I noticed there is an Indian guy appearing from nowhere standing beside my car, holding a small booklet in his hand……gosh, a parking attendance. Open my door, asked him how much? ….'Lima ringgit' is the answer. Paid him unwillingly (because it's a lousy car park without tar or cement flooring, no parking block line, and it’s just an open space with dirt and rock and of course one pondok and one entrance. Really not worth the MYR5.00…..

My colleague called me right after I paid the parking fees and walk towards UOA. Followed him to their office, there i met another colleague and a stranger guy. Self introduction and got to know that stranger was once a software engineer that station at Germany for two years, then joined another software company in Singapore for another couple of years before got to know this direct sales company … then he joined as a part timer for one year plus before come out full time now. Both of my colleagues just joined him for only months.

The company, an aromatherapy company and bla bla bla..........the product is using the fragrance/herbal oil to produce the aromatheraphy effect through the burner. A good business as they are selling the air and it's everywhere in the world, poeple more concren about their health nowaday and it's a good opportunity to start own business......bla bla bla (no free advertisement for them here, anyway can't remember all they have mentioned also.... :) for who interested to know more you can refer to the link provided

After all I accepted my colleague's invitation also for the purpose of entertaining him, at the same time no harm trying to understand another so call 'business opportunity'. At the end, I'm not interested to join (although they haven't touch about how the system work, the meeting is purely product and company background introduction.)

Tea Mooncake

Last two days is month 7 day 7 (七月初七) in Chinese calendar and also Chinese Valentine’s day. Things goes on as usual except hazy day….. Eight more days and the so call ‘Ghost Day’ (盂兰节) has come…….err…..feel scary when recall what’s happening in my office last month (refer to my earlier post ‘Hysteria’).

Lantern Festival () is coming in another one and a half month later. Also my youngest sister is back from Beijing and we’ll celebrate the festival together at my mother’s home (one week after the festival... ;P), anyway it’s a family gathering too mah…. Hopefully I can make it home since my wife is working every Sunday in September……..sigh!

Today back from office at about 7:30pm, fortunately the haze has subsides much compared to yesterday and nearer buildings looks clearer now. Had dinner at Jaya Jusco Maluri, at the same time will buy some mooncake back home tomorrow. After dinner, browse around the department store, many mooncake choices available. Variable shapes, variable colors, variable flavors, interestingly variable fancy packing too. Also, more cakehouse has emphasis on healthy now with added ingredient like cereals, dragon fruit, low fat and much more.

Go round the store for two times and a miny green colour mooncake has caught my attention. It’s the Tea Leaf mooncake from Purple Cane 紫藤, and it’s animal fat free (suitable for my sisters who is vegetarian). 7 flavors available with 7 different designs box and the packing is interesting, price ranging from MYR6 to MYR8 but the size is merely 6cm only. I bought six and get a free Lantern packing box FREE (another business tactic huh! But I trap too….hehe). The flavor I bought includes Pandan Paste 金翡翠, Lotus Paste 莲蓉, Red Bean Paste 红豆沙, White Lotus Paste 白莲蓉, Coffee Lotus Paste 咖啡, and Chocolate 巧克力. The cool lantern comes with many butterflies around titled 月光会. But the taste of the mooncake is yet to be find out…. J.

Try lighting up the lantern, and surprisingly it looks cool...

To win a good mooncake sales today, it has to fulfill color 色, smell 香, taste 味, nutrition 营养, and most importantly packing 包装…

Four seasons in Malaysia

Went out very early this morning at 6am+ sending my wife to work. Back home at about 7am after dropped her off. On the way back towards KL city center from KL-Seremban highway, the sky is getting brighter and brighter as the sun is rising now. You guess what, at his moment of period I saw the most beautiful view of Kuala Lumpur after staying here for so many years.

Really, no kidding......with the dim light blue of the sky, light traffic on the road, trees, building, and what make it so beautiful is the foggy look......the blurry look really make you feel cooler.....But all this feelling was subsides immediately when I step out of the car. I smell smoke. Hell, it's the haze.

Now I feel the four seasons in Malaysia: Windy, Rainny, Warmy, and Hazzy. It's goes round and round and may happen double 4 seasons, triple 4 seasons, quaduple 4 seasons or even more .....

*****An idea come across my mind just now when I'm watching TV....Oxygen selling business. This was so common in Japan but I still don't see one yet in Malaysia. In view of the poor air quality during Hazzy season, oxygen and face mask business must be good.....hehe

Hey our dearest neighbourhood, please stop launching your smoke bomp to us every year. You are killing us slowly....

Toy car???

Month after launch of Tiara replacement model namely Savvy, I finally saw this car cruising on the road with it's BMW look alike headlamp, Peugeot look alike exhaust pipe, Citreon look alike back passenger mirror. This lacunchin is taeret to compete with current market low cc car such as Kia Picanto, Perodua MyVi, Hyundai Getz, and etc.

Photo above shows 407 SW. 407 Evente looks very similar to SW.

Looking at the it make me recall an car advertisement on TV.............Peogeot 407 Evente, and the Savvy looks exactly like those toy car (sorry if some of the Savvy owner has read this, bu this is the really the first thought comes into my mind when I saw it on the raod.) I think Proton better send their designer to China where the toy industry is so much advance there. Who knows, Proton might get it reputation in the toy car industry... ;-)

Proton, you have to grow up fast otherwise you'll be left far far behind or even being obsoleted.....

Camera faulty

Only 2 years and my Fujifilm digital camera were faulty 2 times. First time with the blue led light on the fancy front panel power switch goes off. Fortunately that happen 1 months before warranty expired so repaired FOC. And the LED goes off again 2 months after repair....#%$&!##. Since the camera still can function without the LED, I ignore it then..

Now, a year later the CCD faulty. This time the camera can't used already. The so call Super CCD only can last 2 years!!! Coincidently, the same model that my brother bought also having the same problem. He bought the camera 1 month earlier than me. Looks like that's the manufacturing defects.

So, Brought it to the service center today. Mention to the service guy that this might be the manufacturing defect and he answered that the LED and CCD is two major problem for this model but it's not manufacturing defect. What??!!! And he advice not to repair the LED again cause it won't last long and the camera still can function without the light. He added some more that if it's model F401 then that's the manufacturing defect.......i mute. If confirm is the CCD problem, probably it will cost roughly MYR300+. I'm wondering whether i shall repair it??

Thought Made in Japan product will be more reliable and looks like I'm wrong....The electronics product nowaday is made to use for max 3 years, by the time if your gadget still can use also outdated liow. sigh... So, wait for the call from the service center.

Malaysian Idol 2005 - 1st spectacular result

11 finalist, 1st Spectacular show, 2 out.

Result announce yesterday and Tricia and Atilia being voted out. It just not agreed with two Malay judges comments. Roslan, "Wake up, Malaysiaion wake up. You're just voted out two of the best singer"
Fauziah Latiff, "What happen? I believe they are better then others."

This is Malaysian Idol show, the voters is the judges from Spectacular show onwards. And there is no rules saying a good signer must be an idol, and the real fact life shows that. Poor singer doesn't mean they can't be idol. Some people jugde idol by look while some judge by singing skill, and also some judge by both. So, judges, you have no right to call all Malaysian to 'wake up'.

It's just happen the two being voted out is both Malays. And I believe 'they' really wanted an Idian and a chinese to be voted out. And I really smell discrimination here....from the first audition. I will say, Roslan and Fauziah you both sit tight, don't comment about the result and do your job just to comment about the contestant's performance. Paul has done the good job.
